How I Saved My Marriage When It Was About To Go Up In A Ball Of Flames

In just a couple of months, my husband and I will be celebrating 16 years of marriage and our path to this union was anything but easy.

Marriage has a way of asking everything you think you are to crumble, dissolve, and reform into something divinely led rather than ego-driven.

It’s funny…but also not funny at all.

What Nearly Burned It All Down

Back then, I lacked discernment, timing, listening skills, compromise, and maturity.

And if I had to pinpoint the one thing that nearly set everything ablaze, it was maturity-or rather, the lack of it.

My greatest initiations that year were simple… and excruciating:

• Learning to bite my tongue

• Releasing the need for the last word

• Building the capacity to hear things I didn’t agree with

• Accepting that I cannot control another human being

I had mistaken union for sameness, instead of recognizing I was being invited into a love not shaped by self-serving boundaries, hidden agendas, or conditions.

What True Union Will Ask of You

Here are the initiations I had to walk through and what true unity in love will actually call you into:

1. Holding the Tension

You must learn to stretch with love inside the tension you feel in your relationship.

When you do, you will emerge on the other side cracked open and more resilient than before.

This cyclical breaking and rebuilding is what expands you.

It transforms your relationship into something sacred, something forged, not simply chosen.

As your awareness grows, so does the love, the depth, and the ground you can hold together.

2. Elevating Your Vision of Love

When you fear men or fear your own partner because you’re unsure how he’ll react, you trap yourself in the narrowness of a purely earthly, 3D perspective.

True union asks you to elevate your vision.

Honor men.
Respect your man.
But do not fear him.

Come from love and truth:
steady, unwavering, uncompromising.

3. Releasing Control To The Divine

Remember that you are held by the Divine.

Let every control mechanism of your smaller self burn away.

This is the path.
This is the initiation.
This is how you enter the truest, most expansive love you will ever know.
